The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Volodymyr Lytvyn, has held the Meeting with Stats-Secretary, Vice-Minister on Foreign Affairs of Russian Federation, Grygoriy Krasin.
Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russian Federation congratulated V. Lytvyn on his election on the post of the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
During the meeting the parties discussed interparliamentary relations, intensification of contacts on the parliamentary level of both countries, taking into the consideration the overcoming of the finance and economic crisis.
V. Lytvyn stressed that "it would be good to coordinate the ways of the crisis overcoming and other world processes in order to achieve mutual positive results". G. Karasin declared "finance and economic crisis give an opportunity to unite efforts and together solve the difficult situation"
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine declared that "there are no tasks that we can not manage to fulfill, and the role of the Parliament in such a situation is one of the leading"
V. Lytvyn recommended that the 8th Interparliamentary Commission Meeting should be held as soon as possible.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine informed on the present political and economic situation in Ukraine and on legislative activity of Ukrainian Parliament, in particular regarding the budget process. He stated that the Parliament is concentrated only on the issues of the first importance for the society.
V. Lytvyn declared that in Ukrainian-Russian relations the most important now is to "strengthen the dialogue" on the highest, Parliamentary level.
G. Karasin expressed the thought that unsolved problems in bilateral relations should be solved in "good will and good-neighbourly atmosphere".
